A Short History

5th Irvine company is part of Fullarton Church in Irvine, Ayrshire which is situated in South West Scotland.

The company first enrolled boys in 1957 under the leadership of Angus McPherson and has continued to meet since.  It was given official status in 1959.  The Rev P G Thomson was appointed the first captain in January 1960.  He was succeeded in June 1960 by Mr John Irvine.

Today the company has 15 Anchor Boys, 12 Junior Section, 3 Company Section and 5 Seniors.  For further information on any of the sections go to Where and When.

All sections take part in a wide variety of activities, as can be seen on the galleries pages.  A number of the activities are organised by North Ayrshire Battalion which covers a geographical area from Dreghorn to Largs and inland to Kilbirnie and at present has 14 active companies.

I would like to hear from former boys and officers with their reminiscences of their time in the company and add some of the stories to this site.  Meanwhile you can check out some photos from the past in our Down Memory Lane page.  E-mail anecdotes, photos and any other interesting material to 5thirvine@boys-brigade.org.uk.
